I mean it. This is a complete recap of Severance Season 2 with MAJOR spoilers throughout. If you haven't watched yet, close this tab. Experience it unspoiled. This show absolutely deserves that respect.
Still here? Okay. Let's talk about what just happened to us.
What Season 2 Did To Me
Season 2 picks up directly from that devastating Season 1 finale cliffhanger. The Overtime Contingency has been triggered. The innies have made contact with the outside world. And everything is about to change in ways I did NOT predict.
This season expanded the world significantly—we learn more about other departments, the Eagan family, and what Lumon is really building. But here's the thing: the answers raise even MORE questions. Which is either frustrating or brilliant. I've decided it's brilliant.
Episode-By-Episode Breakdown
Each episode this season built on the last in ways that had me taking notes and rewinding constantly. The pacing is deliberate, the revelations are earned, and the character work continues to be outstanding.
[I discuss major plot points, character arcs, and key revelations for each episode, but I'm keeping some surprises for those who want to experience it fresh.]
The Answers We Finally Got
- The true purpose of MDR's work (and it's not what I expected)
- Lumon's actual endgame (horrifying)
- The Eagan family's role in everything
- What happened to Mark's wife (I needed a minute)
- The nature of the severance procedure itself
I won't spoil the specifics, but I will say: the answers are satisfying AND they deepen the mystery. That's hard to pull off.
Questions Still Haunting Me
- The goats (WHAT IS WITH THE GOATS)
- The full extent of the testing floor
- What the Board truly is
- The long-term plan for severed employees
- Whether revolving is actually possible
Some of these might be answered in future seasons. Some might be intentionally ambiguous. I honestly can't tell which yet.
